改編自名著《米蘭夫人》。家庭教師白瑞美（金玫）受王家所聘，來到後即感覺王宅氣氛詭異。王家主人王義明（柯俊雄）自愛妻疑似和人私通雙雙死在海裡之後，便和朋友連嘉文（郭夜人）之妻春鶯（丁香）交往親密，對女兒淑媛（小惠）不理不睬。淑媛因得不到父愛，一開始對瑞美很不友善，而管家的女兒阿蘭（戴佩珊）更是行蹤鬼祟，只有王家友人高鳳嬌（柳青）、高玉琨（歐威）兄妹對瑞美示好。瑞美來後不到一個月，王家即接二連三的發生鬧鬼事件。瑞美也因義明對淑媛的態度而起爭執。本來執意離去的瑞美，不料義明被瑞美的態度所感動，一改往日的行徑，王家開始有了歡笑。某日，王家開舞會，連嘉文夫婦也在邀約之列，不幸翌日竟接到連嘉文被人毒殺的噩耗，義明、春鶯遂被警方約談。此時瑞美也發現王妻的日記，內容顯示出王妻的死因令人懷疑；同時也發現只要跟義明交往親密的女人，都會莫名其妙的被陷害。之後，義明以散心為...。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely.
