11岁的少年榎木拓也（山口胜平 配音）拥有一个幸福的家庭，父母关系和睦，同时还有一个可爱的弟弟榎木实（版本千夏 配音）。一场突出起来的车祸让他的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化，母亲在车祸中丧生，在悲痛中，父亲榎木春美（宫本充 配音）成为了家里唯一的支柱。为了减轻父亲的负担，拓也担负起了照顾弟弟的责任。 小实可爱的性格给拓也带来了快乐，却也引发了不少的麻烦，加上身边一群擅长制造混乱的朋友们，拓也的生活过得劳累但充实。在照顾弟弟的过程中，拓也渐渐领悟了家庭的意义，同时，失去母亲的伤痛，也随着时间的流逝变成了一段段美好的回忆。。A reclusive scientist builds a robot that looks exactly like him to go on a long-term space mission. Since the scientist seems to lack all emotions, he is unable to program them into his automaton, and an eccentric woman is hired to "educate" the robot on human behavior.
