故事发生在隋朝末年，美女柳絮（俞飞鸿 饰）因行刺隋炀帝（周野芒 饰）未遂，被强令下嫁乞丐二蛋（吴孟达 饰）以示惩罚，次年生下古灵精怪的儿子蛋蛋（叮当 饰）。蛋蛋生于乱世之秋，当时群雄逐鹿、天下大乱，二蛋领着儿子开始了四处漂泊的流亡生活。秦琼（卲峰 饰）与柳絮同出一个师门，情同兄妹，但有缘无份，裴元庆（吴京 饰）少年英雄，曾与柳絮欲结百年之好，不幸英年早亡。为救瓦岗众兄弟于水火，柳絮又忍辱嫁给奸雄王世充（秦焰 饰）。逐渐长大的蛋蛋随父亲多年寻母无果，爷俩只好行乞为生，幸遇师傅刘风（齐景斌 饰）教点杂耍手艺，从此行走江湖，后遇药王孙思邈（刘长生 饰）相赠仙丹，但蛋蛋最挂牵的仍是多年未见的母亲......。Tom Barnaby joins the Causton Chamber of Commerce trip to Brighton as he is suspicious of dodgy mayor Hicks' plan to buy coastal land on which to buy chalets.
