Aspiring filmmakers Mel Funn, Marty Eggs and Dom Bell go to a financially troubled studio with an idea for a silent movie. In an effort to make the movie more marketable, they attempt to recruit a number of big name stars to appear, while the studio's creditors attempt to thwart them. The film contains only one word of dialogue, spoken by an unlikely source.。男童节当天，刚刚结束外出旅行的阿寅（渥美清饰）本想为满男买些鲤鱼旗庆祝，但却因为一些小事情而搞得不欢而散。心情郁闷的他决定再次踏上旅程。在路上，他偶然发现一个情绪低落的女子在河边徘徊，而当他回到旅馆时，竟然又遇到了这个女子。深感同情，阿寅邀请她品尝当地的特色菜，但却让他陷入了经济困境。 在返回的路上，阿寅与一个出身贵族的老人相遇，并建立了一种不解之缘。这位老人失去了自己的小儿子，而儿媳橘子则离家在外。当初，因为橘子的出身是平民，她和老人之间因门第观念而发生了矛盾。现在，老人渴望找到她，解除内心的不安。机缘巧合之下，橘子竟然就是阿寅在旅馆中遇到的女子。两人心存忐忑，但渴望相见，终于化解了彼此之间的误会。老人甚至考虑让阿寅成为橘子的人生伴侣，这一切都让阿寅陷入了犹豫和纠结之中。他不知道自己该如何选择，但心中却充满了对未来的期待和对爱情的感动。。
